To Be Educated: A Superset of Education

Hotep, Islam, Shalom, Greetings Family:

Let's get right to it today! The topic is about being educated compared to the notion of "education". This comes about --in part-- from years of hearing people talk about what they went to school to study, and what the end up doing for a career.  When I say "education", I'm referring to the institutionalization, systemization and processing of learning in our societies. Let's take a look at what a dictionary defines education as:

1 a: the action or process of educating or of being educated ; also : a stage of such a process b: the knowledge and development resulting from an educational process <a person of little education>
2
: the field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools

Here's the "quasi-root" etymology of educate:
In ancient Greece, Socrates argued that education was about drawing out what was already within the student. (As many of you know, the word education comes from the Latin e-ducere meaning "to lead out.")

This stuff gets deep, but I'll spare you the forensic analysis for the moment --especially the quasi-root denotion. So, to educate is to bring out what already is within, correct?! Education, should be the  process or system by which the knowledge from within reveals itself to the student.  Is our educational systems actually educating or "indoctrinating"?

Here's the definition for indoctrinate:
1 : to instruct especially in fundamentals or rudiments : teach
2 : to imbue with a usually partisan or sectarian opinion, point of view, or principle

I hold fast to the latter of that last question for many reasons, but the main point is to say, check the history and see for yourself what the motive would be to do either.

Education for the most part, seems to be more of an overly glamorized "dog 'n pony" show of qualifications, competencies and certifications, that don't justify the assertion of having truly learned that knowledge. Sort of like those Hotel commercials, where the person actually does a professional job, but really isn't that professional --Oh, I just slept at the  <blank> Hotel!  Moreover, the ways in which education has been systemized throughout the ages, speaks directly to its illegitimacy to begin with --go research and see.  Don't get me wrong, education is necessary! I'm posing a direct question as to how and the means by which one is educated.

Now to bring this puppy home! To be educated, has all to do with the will and means of a person, going about their life continually unlocking themselves. From being in this foster land, to my surrogate land, back to my mother land; some of the most educated people I've met, built deep constructs of practical knowledge and insight; weren't from a groomed education, if you will! They all possessed the life and love for learning, regardless of the social/political constructs and dilemmas.  They were the ones --in part -- that expressed that education in all its forms, came from the educated peoples.  It's not until people started to believe solely in education, that they then lost the point of source, and spiraled down as uneducated deviants.  We need to bring the whole ship back to basis, and return to being educated! To continue unlocking the truths to better mankind; not to play status quo and keep the downward spiral!  :-o

Keep inspired to help yourself and others stand for something worthwhile.  Read more and learn more, to make the world a better place. . .Substance people, substance!
