Where's My Sun Screen?

This is your brother Sneferu, aka T2, bringing more mind to the matters at hand! The summer season has begun, so far, it has been relatively mild with the sunshine and heat. The funny thing is, when the sun starts to blast through the clouds and bake the earth, the first thing I hear is, "Put on your sunscreen!" OK, I do understand where I currently reside, and the majority demographics in the area. Yet, should I hear this around people who obviously originated from lands full of sun? The key word here is 'originated' not immigrated, squatted or settled. This shouldn't be a trick question, but evidently to a ever growing disenfranchised populous, it is!

Let's get into the meat of why I even bring this up. The first infraction was about a year or so ago, when a notice was sent home, insisting on the sending in, of sunscreen/sunblock into school for my child --clearly not applicable! I kindly ignored, the first notice. Following in about a week, a call came in from the head teacher, stating that, she's calling as a friendly reminder to send in sunscreen, and that one of my child's friends was gracious enough to share. I bit my tongue, for they were trying to keep my child's best interest at hand --so they thought! My little one would come home covered with sunblock residue; and developed heat rashes due to lack of her skin breathing and natural functions of her body's respiratory and sun absorption systems. I guess they didn't understand when I explained she's a "sun baby" and doesn't need artificial sun screen, for she's born with the natural ability to working with it. Skin cancer doesn't even register on the ranks for fatalities of my people, but ignorance and self-mutilation does!
The next and final infraction for me, was when I went on a white-water rafting outing with some folks. A dude as melanin dominated or melanated as I was, straight came up to me and said I should put on some sunblock, because the sun is going to be beaming out! I quickly smiled and said, " No thanks, I don't need any sunblock, I'm Afrikan built . . ." The look on his face . . .priceless! This wasn't ego or arrogant band-standing, but mere self knowledge infringing on the territory of accepted ignorance. Melanin dominance ( dark pigmentation), is an asset and dynamic feature of the people of the sun! The Harvard and Oxford medical schools, conducted 50 years and more study of melanin --with Black people solely as test subjects--, resulting in the creation of sunblock/sunscreen and SPF ratings in the 20th century --for the melanin recessive peoples!
How the heck! ... can the natural elements that birthed my peoples and mankind, come to such utter social absent mindedness of self? Respect is a charge to all peoples of the world, and yes me, the Afrikan Diaspora, and continental Afrika has humbly accepted dissent! The charge of intolerance goes to those, that developed/develop systems to homogenize and pasteurize the world into a place comfortable for themselves. The tasks for my peoples are to reclaim their, spirit, minds, culture and identity and stop the madness of self - destruction! It's not about can we all get along, but can we all get it right! To live in respect of each other and true balance of life? Say what you like, because I know, I don't need to block any sun, for I'm truly a child of the sun!
